The MORE THAN PINK Walk is made possible by our amazing team of volunteers. Leading up to the event and on Saturday, March 11, 2023, there are plenty of ways you can join in and lend a hand to make this breast cancer walk a success. What can I do? There are many ways to get involved in planning this year’s walk and ensuring it’s a day to remember. We’re always looking for strong event committee members and event day volunteers. Some of the ways to get involved include: BEFORE THE WALK -Reach out to team captains -Coordinate with vendors -Work with our corporate partners -Day-to-day administrative support ON WALK DAY -Help register participants -Capture photos and videos -Assist out on the route with water and encouragement -Help set up or tear down after the event

Join Support+Feed in delivering nourishing, plant-based meals to community members experiencing food insecurity in South Central Los Angeles. Founded in 2020 by Maggie Baird, mother of Grammy Award-winning artists Billie Eilish and Finneas, Support+Feed is a global movement committed to mitigating climate change and increasing food security by driving the demand, acceptance, and accessibility of plant-based food. Since its founding, Support+Feed has delivered over 1.5 million meals and pantry items, working with 190+ community organizations, 100 local restaurants, and hundreds of volunteers. This project focuses on food deliveries to A Place Called Home, a trusted community organization located at 2901 S. Central Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90011. Volunteers will pick up meals from local partner restaurants and deliver them directly to A Place Called Home, where the food will be distributed to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

The Friendly Visitor/In-Home Respite Program provides respite support for caregiving families to maintain and improve their quality of life. Volunteers offer caregivers an opportunity to take a break (respite) from their caregiving duties and serve as friendly visiting companions to older adults. Position Responsibilities Provide and participate in safety supervision and social enrichment activities with the care receiver. All activities are non-medical. Volunteers do not provide personal care (assistance with activities of daily living), transportation, or housekeeping; activities may include: Companionship and safety supervision. Short-distance walks or other non-medical exercises. Arts and crafts. Reading, or watching TV and movies together. Playing board games or card games. Qualifications Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Be interested in creating meaningful relationships with seniors. What type of volunteers join this program? The Friendly Visitor Program welcomes volunteers of all walks of life, including but not limited to retirees, college students, current ACC volunteers, new residents of Sacramento, family caregivers, and more!

Volunteers will be responsible for assembling meal boxes, which will be sent out to families by delivery volunteers throughout the following week. Volunteers will work in small groups to sort through food items and pack meal boxes with a variety of foods and materials. Meal packing occurs every Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm. Meal Deliveries are performed every Monday from 8am to Noon. From participating, volunteers will learn effective communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Volunteering allows you to not only give back to the community and make a positive impact on families, but also strengthen bonds with your own family or group. Volunteers will find themselves a part of a community of passionate and hard-working individuals. Anyone can participate in this job. Volunteers will be required to be on their feet for an extended period of time and lift items up to 30 lbs. However, there are tasks available for all physical abilities and children as young as 12 years old.
